Child Lexicon CLT app
What will happen to the information obtained during the study with the Child Lexicon CLT App?
The study is confidential and the collected data will only be used for scientific purposes. We maintain full confidentiality of the collected data, and the data are stored on servers located in the European Union. Results will always be presented collectively (e.g. in scientific articles or presentations) and summarized on the project’s website. We do not distribute the individual data to any third parties. The data collected with the use of the Child Lexicon CLT mobile application does not contain personal data enabling the identification of the participants. Data collected with the use of Child Lexicon CLT mobile application is stored and processed anonymously using anonymous codes assigned to the respondents.
Can you and your family withdraw from the study?
Participation is voluntary, both for parents and children. If you don’t wish to participate, you can withdraw from the study at any time and you don’t need to provide a reason for the resignation. If you decide to withdraw, we will delete all the personal information about you and your child and will not contact you anymore. Even if you consent to participate on behalf of your child, he or she is in his or her own right may at any time refuse to take part.
Information about the processing of personal data
Information obligation pursuant to Article 13 of Regulation 2016/679 of the European Parliament and of the Council (EU) from 27 April 2016 on the protection of individuals with regard to the processing of personal data - general regulation on data protection (Journal of Laws UE L 119 / 1 of May 4, 2016).
Data Controllers
The Data Controllers of the personal data processed are:

Data Protection Officer (DPO)
The Controllers have designated Data Protection Officers whom you may contact via email at iod@adm.uw.edu.pl (UW), ingrid.jacobsen@oslomet.no (OsloMet) or roger.markgraf-bye@admin.uio.no (UiO).
The DPOs can be contacted in all matters regarding the processing of your personal data by the Controllers and use of your rights related with the processing of personal data.
The tasks of the DPOs are not, however, to carry out other matters, such as providing information related to the project, participation in the studies, etc. All the questions related to the project can be sent to the project email (projekt.polkanorski@psych.uw.edu.pl) or one of the researchers listed in the letter above.
3. Purpose and legal grounds of data processing
With your consent, we process your data for the purpose of conducting research in the project “Polish and Norwegian language and world knowledge development in mono- and multilingual children” (with the acronym: PolkaNorski).
The legal basis for processing general categories of personal data is your consent (GDPR [1] art. 6 nr. 1 a) and the legal basis for processing special categories of personal data (health data) is your explicit consent (GDPR art. 9 nr. 2 a)

The period of storage of your personal data
Your personal data will be processed for the duration of the project, until the end of 2026, and then anonymized.
We use survey providers (Qualtrics og Wordpress) as well as research servers (Qualtrics and OVH in Poland and TSD in Norway) with which at least one of the institutions, the University of Warsaw, University of Oslo or OsloMet, has data processing agreements, and which provides secure processing of personal information. The research servers have fire walls between separate projects and two-step authentication to access the data.
Recipients of personal data
Your personal data may be made available to entities authorized by law. Access to your personal data will also be provided to project members (including research assistants and designated students) and collaborating researchers, who must process your personal data as part of their duties and tasks.
Your rights related to processing
We guarantee the fulfillment of all your rights under the GDPR, i.e. the right to access and rectify data and the right to delete or limit processing, as well as the right to object.
Transfer of data outside the European Economic Area (EEA)
Your data will not be transferred outside the European Economic Area (EEA).
The right to lodge a complaint to the President of the Personal Data Protection Office
If you believe that the processing of your personal data violates the provisions of the General Data Protection Regulation, you have the right to lodge a complaint to the Office for Personal Data Protection in Poland (kancelaria@uodo.gov.pl) or Data Protection Services (previously, NSD – The Norwegian Centre for Research Data AS), by email: (personverntjenester@nsd.no) or by telephone: +47 53 21 15 00.
